How do you clean your pure wool tartan outfits?
Washing: If you’re used to washing woollen textiles yourself, you can choose to wash pure wool tartan in the washing machine: on a wool programme at 30°C and gentle cycle (little spin-drying). Use a product suitable for delicate textiles such as wool or silk. Be careful not to overfill the drum of your washing machine so that the textiles are not compressed too much.
If you’re not used to washing woollen fabrics in the washing machine, you can wash them by hand, using a product suitable for wool. You can also, and manufacturers often advise this, opt for dry cleaning.
Drying: Leave your garment to air dry, keeping it away from sources of heat.
Interlining tip: Pay attention to the interlining used in the collars, trims or bibs of certain garments. Some of these interlinings cannot be machine-washed. This is often the case for garments such as suit jackets or coats. So choose a machine-washable interlining.
Ironing: This fabric creases very little. It’s a pleasure to wear. If necessary, iron pure wool tartan at a low temperature, using a protective cloth between the iron and the fabric to avoid burns. Never apply the iron directly to the wool.
