Fabrics : Fibres and weaves
Information to know in order to choose fabrics :
Fabrics are made of two components : Fibres and weaves.
Fibres are the composition e.g. cotton.
The Weave is the pattern of interlacing of warp yarns and weft yarns in a woven fabric that gives the characteristic aspect of the fabric, e.g. a satin
We are talking here about cotton satin
Examples of Fibres :
Cotton, Linen, Silk, Wool, Cashmere, Viscose, Polyester, Polyamide,…
Examples of Weaves: Satin, Taffeta, Crepe, Serge, Organza, Chiffon, Ottoman…
You can weave on the same way (= with the same weave) threads from different fibres : a cotton thread, a silk thread or a polyester thread. So you can find cotton satin, silk satin or polyester satin. All are satins but finally all different fabrics and all different qualities.
At Stragier a special importance is given to fabrics quality and the way they can be distinguished. That's why each fabric has a name and a composition. That's why you can filter your search results by weave and by fibres !
